As announced on Thursday December 12, 2019, we have been conducting a thorough investigation into various application campaigns to ensure a fair and equal selection of the Fjällräven Polar 2020 participants.
We are sad to inform that we have found several campaigns that were not in line with the spirit of Fjällräven Polar, nor the values of Fjällräven. In certain regions, we have disqualified applicants because of various aspects of foul play and toxic campaigning.
The nature of the investigation has been very broad, consisting of both a deep dive into what has been done publicly on Social Media, what we have received from various stakeholders, as well as a technical investigation into the nature of the votes and the campaign.
In the affected regions, the seat at Fjällräven Polar 2020 has been appointed to the runner up applicants. In the remaining regions, the seat has been appointed to the winner of the popular vote.
All winners, both by vote as well as jury picks, have been carefully examined by our technical team for any signs of voting fraud and toxic behavior and we are happy to announce that we have not been able to find any signs of cheating or toxic behavior amongst the selected winners.
Fjällräven Polar is about companionship, respect and appreciation, changing lives in a positive way and bringing people from all over the world together, working as a team in one of the world’s most beautiful places – the Arctic.
It is great to see the huge increase of interest in Fjällräven Polar all over the world and we want to thank all applicants that put so much hard work into their campaigns pursuing their dream.
However, we are sad to see that some campaigns are not in line with our terms & conditions and do not respect the values of Fjällräven and the Fjällräven Polar event.
We are following the discussions online, reading your emails and hearing your concerns. We are aware of what is happening and kindly ask you NOT to accuse other applicants. Actions against applications and campaigns violating the rules during the competition have already been taken and we will continue to screen and investigate further.
We do not tolerate any campaigns that are not in line with the spirit of Fjällräven Polar and we will make use of our right to disqualify applicants even after the voting has ended on 12 December 10am CET if we find any toxic behavior or violation of our terms and conditions.
On Friday 13 December 7:30PM CET only the winners by jury-pick per region will be announced.
Announcement of the winners by vote is postponed to January 7 2020 to give us more time to investigate and ensure a fair selection.
To those who are putting their hearts into their campaigns, respecting each other and displaying the positive spirit of Fjällräven Polar: Thank you, you guys are great!
